Help! Questions about compact flash

Whenever I transfer images from my camera It always transferrs extremely slowly, and I am wondering if it is my card or my connection. I am not using a card reader, just the direct connection from my digital rebel to my computer. Here is my card
Would my transfer speed get any better if I used a card adapter?


Also, I am curious if this is a good card: CF card Do you know of the writing speed? There are many 1 gig cards by this brand out there, I am just wondering if its a decent card/brand.

Also, would the speed of my card effect the number of continuous shots or shots taken relatively quickly, or help the camera re-buffer any faster?

A card reader would help you tremendously. Especially if you used a USB 2.0 or firewire reader on an equially compatible system..

Finally, the main benefit of faster cards for the camera is that it can write from buffer to card faster which means if your buffer was full it would "unfill" quicker. It's also beneficial when viewing/scrolling through the images on the LCD.

Your next questions are likely to be, How much faster? Does it really make that much of a difference between card X and card Y? Check the link I provided earlier to halp answer your questions.

For me, I use a couple slow 1GB microdrives. I use them because it's what I have and have had for a few years now. They're slow but they get the job done. Until they break or I have a NEED for something faster I'll ontinue to use them. If I was starting from scratch and didn't have any cards then I'd try to buy the fastest possible within reason financially.
