    Always Something To Critique

There's always *something* to critique - something that can be improved. But damnit if I can't find a thing with this photo! That being the case, I'm just going to share some of the things I like about it. First of all - the subject is awesome. Yes, it's been done before but it *is* a classic theme and it will continue to be one. As long they're shot well, photos like this will always move us because they talk to us about hope, innocence and love.

I was looking at the composition as something that could be improved and maybe it could be tightened up a bit. But it's not necessary. I think the angles, ratios and everything in this image work just fine as they are.

I was also looking at the black and white tones to see if I could find something to nitpick there. Once again, no dice. I finally had to admit that I really like the contrast and the dark skin tones. The skin texture in this image is very tactile, which makes the photo more visceral for me. I more than see it - I feel it.

Excellent job, alderse. gahspidy asked me to cover for him this week, picking the Featured Photo. And this photo is my pick. It's wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing it!

Great job. I do have one idea / suggestion. This is post processing, not something done in camera. The bottom left (baby's clothing) is the brightest part of the image. Consider lightening the focal point - the fingers, and light vignetting the edges, so the eye is drawn to the subject ...this said, this is a very minor suggestion, and the photo is great as is.

    Re: Give me five

I can barely find anything to critique here. If there were one thing, it would be what Ilewpics mentioned.

Other than that, fantastique. Some referring to their own work as classic is a bit ballsy, but, in the words of Jaco Pastorius, it ain't braggin' if you can back it up.

    Congrats on the feature.

Well if the more experienced members can't pick holes in it , I'll be damned if I can , wonderful shot.
    Congrats on feature .

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

This is beautiful. Seems to me the composition would be a bit better with more of the adult hand and a bit more on the top to give it the rule of thirds. Although maybe it is close enough now.
