    How to eliminate blur

I just got my Nikkor 55-200 VR lens for my D3100 and my images are noticeably blurry in some cases. I never had much of an issue with my 18-200 and usually am very steady. VR is activated on the lens so it's not that.

    Any suggestions?

Can you post some sample images, so we can see what kind of blur it is?

Just slightly off in my opinion, this was a longer shot.

It looks soft all over, as if the AF didn't focus right.
Or it lost sharpness while it was being resized.
Was there glass between you and the lions?

Shame your software took out the EXIF data, that might show something odd in the settings.
    It looks under-exposed, for example.
I'd like to know aperture, shutter speed, focal length, and see other settings from the camera in the EXIF.
If possible, can you upload a full size version in your Gallery (there's no size limit there) with EXIF intact?
There may be something in focus and it's a narrow DoF with wide aperture, or the aperture's too small and it's unsharpened by diffraction.

It would be useful to know how the AF is set up as well. Which position are you using? single point, multi point etc.Is it in C or S? Heck it might even by in M by mistake. My eye thinks it grabbed the tree because it is stationary. Also it's not a very contrasty subject which can fool the AF. Again I think it grabbed the tree because it was the most contrasty part of the image. A large image with EXIF would definitely help though.
    It's not about the camera....

Are you using a filter of any kind? If so, throw it away!

Switch off the VR if you can and put it on a tripod. Manually focus if you still keep getting blurry images.

Can you tell us the shutter speed and aperture?
