    Dead Flame

Long dead and bleached tree roots. What would be fuel is now the flame.

    Re: Dead Flame

I see what you see as far as potential - the tree looks like a flame alright. Overall though, the scene's composition is tough to make work, for the background rocks interfere with the foreground 'flame' tree. Something that bugs me a bit is that log or whatever leaning against it on the left side, too, really seems to hurt the image geometrically. Finally, the lighting's harsh. It may be better later in the day. Not sure how to correct the background, etc.

    Re: Dead Flame

I think you did well here. The old bleached trees do have a flame like twisty appearance and with the orange leaves at the base and the red rock behind adds to the heat of the flame.
I think shooting this in a better and less harsh sunlight would help, but overall i think this is fine.
    nice work
