    Re: Rusty

Excellent. Nice and sharp (in the right places), great dof and lighting, beautiful color palette; great pose. Does he have representation?

    Re: Rusty

Thanks! No, he has no agent, lol. I've had this cat for 10 years, and just grabbed a few quick frames of him this morning with my K5, 100mm macro and window light. I thought it came out really sharp considering it was 1/15 sec @ ISO1600. He poses like that all the time.

    Re: Rusty

As already said eyes are spot on and dof just right only thing that bthers me is the vertical reflection in both eyes , I was wondering if it would improve if these were cloned out.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Very nice. Everything is right on. I like the bg color matches the eyes. Cat portraits can be tough but you have a well seasoned subject. He haz seniority.

    Re: Rusty

    Nice portrait.

What's going on with the purple fur?
Left side of the nose ridge by the eye, and on the left edge of the head.

Is this a white balance issue, or does his fur really have that appearance?
I know car fur has an amazing range of colour, and wonder if it's an effect I've not noticed before.

I've been meaning to comment on this.

This is one of the best pet photos I've seen around here. The look on his/her face is just so captivating. Wonderful stare. Beauty of a photo!

    Re: Rusty

Great, great shot. My only complaint is what appears to be flare or something in various parts of the image. I wonder if that can be removed? I also see some reflections in his (her?) eyes that should probably be removed, if you can maintain the realism of the cat's eyes. Great DOF.

    Re: Rusty

Actually kinda dig the reflections. Eyes being the windows to the soul and all... seems appropriate to have a doorway reflected in the irises
Great shot - my cat would never stand for this!

I noticed the same thing, it looks like a WB issue and its bugging me about the pic, not sure if its just the natural color of the cat but its distracting and bothersome. Maybe a reduced saturation in key parts of the fur, or adjusted wb.

DLB1973, I'll send you a larger file if you want- pm me.
I'm not sure where the purple tinting came from, but he does have some rust color in the fur (hence the name). WB was on auto.

I think the purple adds something to the image.
