    Last Summers Beauty

My intention here was to show the harsh reality of aging. Last season this Thistle was bright green with a radiant purple flower. It attracted hords of stunning butterflies and many varieties of bees in search of her sweet nectar. Now, this once beauty, is forboding, colorless, and a hazard to touch.
    C&C please.

Hi Ed, I was just thinking about how well the B/W represents the "after" life. The contrast and tones are quite good. What grabs me is the excellent bokeh, the second thistle really pushes the main subject to the front.I have no nitpicks with this....It's been a long time since I critiqued anything...I wish to learn as well. :O)

    With regards,
    Rick

Awesome! I love how the image was taken very vivid and creates a somewhat vintage effect. Two thumbs up!

Very nice shot. You nailed the aging take on this subject. I see not only a thistle, but also a characterization of an aging human form. Great composition.

You did well, here. It has an ugly and dangerous look about it and yet we can marvel at its detail and texture. the b&w is very stark and vivid and helps make the point. I am not sure that i like the large second thistle in the bg, although its position is good and being out of focus keeps it from grabbing the attention. i just feel I would like it less prominent, a bit smaller maybe.
In any case, it works as it is. I like this, good work

Very nice. I like the processing, the composition, the proximity of the two thistles. Excellent.

I think it's good. The tones are well done. The dof is great. Composition as well. My only problem with this photo is that it appears to be oversharpened a tiny bit. other than that. really simple and effective shot.
