Gator's love Coots too! (A bit graphic)

While I was down by the waters edge waiting on some ducks to float by i heard a loud screech basically right next to me. The little Gator came right up on the shore and snatched that Coot by the head. Nature is a little brutal sometimes.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time!! I guess you could call these "documentary" photos - a little gorey, but nevertheless they depict a fact of nature. It is interesting that the 'gator could come right out of the water and grab it - you would think it would have flown away - maybe it was sleeping and didn't even know what happened until it was too late.

Personally, I was a bit amazed by the abundance of coots on most of the wetland ponds I visited, now I "know" why... It would seem that they are a dietary staple for a number of predators.

As usual Eric, great IQ...so did you ever get the duck photos?

    Cheers,

Great way to seize the opportunity (for you and the gator)!

    Amazing shots
Do the big gators come around and snatch photographers lost in their viewfinders?
