    Fly portrait

    One of my last insect macro shots this year, about three weeks ago.

    Thanks Armando and Bryan. This was taken with Canon 50D + MPE65 + 430EX Speedlite. Focus stack of two shots.

    I've thought about renting it. Then I slap myself a few times and remind myself of my lack of DOF control with the 100mm 2.8L.

    This is amazing. I have to try focus stacking. How did you get 2 shots so nicely superimposed if you were hand-holding?

    Thanks all for commenting.
    Don, I had good support for my hands on the rock and the fly was sitting still for a couple of seconds. With MPE65 max focus distance is 4 inch, so you have to get really close to the object.
