Some more of my red tail friend part 1 (image heavy)

I admit I was rooting for the hawk, but that was cause I wanted a shot of him snagging him out of the hole!

Part II later of my shots of Mr. Hawk as he moved around looking for other prey.

A really cool series Cara. Have you given any thought to merging a couple of them together? You could easily take the image #6 and merge it with #16 so you have the hawk looking at the hole while the squirrel is looking out. I did it using Photoshop and it worked pretty slick.

    Thanks everyone...

Mike, I don't know, I've never tried doing any merging in PS.

Photoshop has made merging photos pretty easy. With your photos, all I did was took a couple of them and layered them on top of each other. Then with the layers selected I went to Edit > Auto Align Layers. Photoshop then lined them up based on content of the images. Since the log in the images I selected was pretty much the same, it gave PS a pretty easy target to line up. Once it was done I added a layer mask to one of the layers and painted out what I didn't want to show up. The result was an image of the hawk peering into the hole while the squirrel was looking out. I will post a copy of it if you would like to see it.

This may also bring up some ethical questions as far as nature/wildlife photography goes too.

Here is what I came up with. Again, this was pretty easy to do and only took a couple of minutes in PS.

Very cool, Mike. I may have to try that.

I think the ethics of merging images is that it's cool as long as you say that's what you've done.

    And thanks, Paul

They say that a photograph should tell a story and this series does just that. Phenomenal catch CaraRose.
