Cool World Cup Skateboarding: Rock The Cradle

For the past three years, World Cup Skateboarding has been a part of the Rock The Cradle skateboarding cancer fundraiser in Houston, TX.

The event is a memorial event for Johnny Romano, a Galveston skater who was diagnosed with childhood leukemia and succumbed just weeks before the initial event was to take place in 2008.

Here are a few photos from the 2010 event.

All photos were edited in Lightroom 3.0 and I am skatehouston.info.

Ohhh - those are good! I'm not sure I like the HDR effect on the sky. I like cloud detail but personally, I would tone it down a little. I am something of a purist, though. Ignore me if you please

We've got some more skate photogs who post here and I was a little skate punk in my youth (80s), so I have a softspot for this stuff. I also own a lot of Thrasher issue 13s. It used to be that skate photography was pushing the limits for sports photography. I'm not so sure if that's the case anymore. I got a little bored with photos that used 14 gelled strobes. I guess I like the dirty old black and white stuff

Anyway, welcome to the site. I've seen you posting a bit and I'm pleased to see you sharing some tasty action shots on our sports forum.

Yeah, the effect is not necessarily HDR, but it does make it pop more. It's just one of many Lightroom presets that I enjoy using.

I think If I shot film, I'd be more of a purist but I'm a digital shooter who loves to use whatever technology is available to better my images.

True, but we can now push the digital limits!

Love the fisheye. Nothing else like it. I like the processing too. Nice clouds.
