    Nikon D7000 Announced

The Photokina announcements are coming one on top of another right now and it's tough to keep up. I'm lagging a little on this one, which is too bad because it's a biggie - the new Nikon D7000. It's a DX format prosumer DSLR with a brand new 16-megapixel sensor, 1080p HD video, a new 39-point AF system and full-time auto focus in video mode.

Anyone wanna buy my EOS 7D?

Still a DX, but I like the 100% viewfinder and continuous auto focus for movie mode.

If this one turns out to be as good as it looks, I think I just found my new camera (replacing the D200).

That will be a huge upgrade, Pam! Michael Calanan wrote out D90 pro review and he had a D200 at the time. He thought that in many ways the D90 was better than his D200. So if you upgrade to the D7000 you're going to be blown away by the performance.

Thank you Mr Sony Advocate! I think usually Nikon uses the Sony sensors as a sort of base and then specs them for their own purposes. Is that correct? Because both Sony and Nikon always say that what is apparently the same sensors in their respective cameras are different.

Which Sony camera is this sensor in, anyway? I'm glad you're here to help me keep track of this stuff. I'm usually pretty good with Nikon, Canon and Olympus. I'm trying with Sony but it's hard to stay on top of it all

The sensors are the same, but the image processors are not, thats how they say "they are different". Which I guess is basically what you're saying.

    SLT A-55/ DSLR A-580

Hmm, What makes this D7000 different from a would-be D400?

Same chip, but Nikon uses their own filters and processing.

Same sensor in the A55 and A580.

    Re: Nikon D7000 Announced

I think all DSLR's are now going over to SD. Just as well, as far as I'm concerned, no pins to bend. A little safer, you can get SD cards for pennies.

Yeah I think this body may as well be a D400, for all intents and purposes. I can't see anything to distinguish it from that line. John said something in the article I found a little bit peculiar though
in some ways (video and possibly image quality) it’s even better than the D300S
In what ways is the D300S better than this?

Also I havent' confirmed yet, but what kind of full time movie AF sensor does it use?

Oh man, I do not need something else to gas over. Weather sealing and 6fps...I think my d90 may just get put up to fund this guy.
