    Some More Downhill Riding

Went and did some more photos to document the testing. He was feeling good.

I like the second one and the one of the manual in the grass the most. The manual was sort of a nice surprise as I've come to expect the same shots of that big drop from you. I think you need to shoot another spot or something to break out of your routine. Maybe you are shooting other stuff and we're just not seeing it. But I know how I can get obsessed and/or in a rut with the same subject. Sometimes making it a point to go shoot something completely different and a little uncomfortable can be a great thing for your photography

I like the later ones where the sky is not blown.

For me the first shot is best, because it puts that trail its place in the surroundings.
Just needs the sky detail sorting out (assuming there is any) - can you use the same kind of PS action John uses for snow to recover some detail there?

Yeah it was super overcast when we started shooting. I can for sure darken it some.

The trail is a bitch to shoot brutal like 2K feet in a mile or a little more. So I have the usual spots. I always shoot. There are some corners that I am skipping and a couple jumps I should try and get next time!

Mm, this last one I like too, the angle isn't such a common one I think?
Almost first person, more as if you're going to be the next rider down there.
It's a crazy shot though, I can't be sure which way is up!

    Nice!

Yeahhhhh! That last one is cool. That's something different. I like the little ribbon of trail down below. That tells a little bit of a story. Congratulations on getting Featured Photo. SmartWombat chooses those every week

    Thanks.

That is the middle section of pictures 7,8. The turn shot is at the bottom of the frame there.

Got some good shots, I like the last one the best for the perspective. The main problem I see with them is they look like the shutter was a little slow? Are you using HS sync with your flash? That way you get the shutter up enough and the flash too. Best of both for action.

PS tricks for blown skies are gradient filters. I use lightroom 98% of the time and throw a gradient filter on the sky and turn down the exposure a little bit. It can really make clouds pop. And a lot of time throw in a slight vignette to make the subject pop too.
