    Re: Strategy

Armando - I really like this one as far as his expression, eyes, lighting... it really works well. The big issue here though is the other blue monitor in the background, which I feel is a major distraction. Another smaller issue is that you can barely make out what he's playing on, it being so dark.

I tried a crop to get more to the point. I think it feels better. A post processing project would be to remove that other blue screen, which would help a lot.

ps - that other screen, is it the reflection in a mirror?

    Re: Strategy

These are the kinds of photos I love because, though not award winning stuff that you'll see hanging in a museum, it captures a moment in the child's life.
Your skill as a photographer made it possible to get the shot.

    Re: Strategy

Frog, and GB1, Thanks for the comments!

    How is this version ?

I have removed the reflection of the screen on the glass window of the furniture in the back, did some reconstructing surgery on the corner of the laptop cloning and painting.

    Cropped close to GB1 suggestion

and reduced some of the most obvious noise on his arm and hand

edit: forgot a last step to warm up the face ... time for bed though, and the ISO used is 1000, not 1600 as mentioned in the original post

edit 2. replaced the edited version with the warmed up skin tone

I'd do a slight crop off the bottom to get rid of that shadow on his shirt.

    Re: Strategy

Better, though I think there's too much computer (this one has about half of the shot with the computer but the computer isn't all that exciting).

I think you have a nice shot here, and I would not feel that it needs a lot more - it's good as it is! But if you want to experiment more, try a big time crop where all you have is your kid with little or no computer, see what you get.
