    Smile Flowers and the Bee

These are test shots and I used a little contrast and brightness on the yellow flower and the bee. The purple flower is untouched.

    Re: Flowers and the Bee

The first and last shots are a little soft for me. Were you using a tripod and a larger F-stop? I'd aim for at least an Fstop of 10 or so. The last shot has more potential than the first one in my opinion. Nicer background, great color.

The bee is a cool shot. The flower is nice and sharp and I love the detail in the pollen on his legs. Nice capture.

I agree with the f/b from ridgetop. #2 is golden though. Good shutter speed, good dof, and nice sharp focus.
    mostly Nikon gear

    Re: Flowers and the Bee

Thanks Ridgetop and Counsel. I didn't use a tripod on all of them. The first photo was taken about 7 feet from the subject and trimmed it to show just the surface of the petal. The second photo I got lucky because there were bees around. The 3rd photo was from my dad's front yard, where the flower was facing the sun.

    I really like #2.
Sharp, clean and great subject matter. The bee is caught in stop action, his (it's) wings are blurred but not so much that you can't see them, which is a problem I encounter often. Legs laden with pollen gives me the feeling of just how hard bees have to work.
    Very nice!

Your bee shot is fantastic. Is it hand-held? I am never fast enough for those.

The bee shot was hand held. I was blessed to have busy bees around then. the bee was too focused on that particular flower harvesting.
