    Red laces

I love chuckies. Low-tops. Black with red laces. I love them, not because they are "cool" and "hip" and "in fashion" but because they remind me of my youth.

    Ah, memories.

Very nice image! The only thin I would do is a little clone stamping in the bottom left corner. I really like to DOF!!

Thanks. It was one of the things I saw after posting it in my 365ish blog and I was lazy and didn't want to go back into PS and fix it.

    Re: Red laces

I really like this, Nicci. It makes me smile, because i had "Keds" as a kid growing up and its fun to see them come back in and out of fashion on and off again throughout the years as new generations "discover" them.
What i like is how simple the shot is, and that the only color is the red laces, I think it could be cropped tighter to an 8x10 format from both sides, but it does work for me like it is.
Its a simple and fun shot, with a great POV.
    nice work.

Nicci, congrats on the sticky. I like the red laces and higher contrast B&W on the shoes.

However, I don't think the lens choice is very flattering on the legs.

    Re: Red laces

I like it simple and clean. I wonder if you could get away with cropping out the shadow on the left, because it seems there is a matching sliver of shadow on the right. Perhaps just bring the bottom up to remove both. It doesn't seem to affect the overall composition to my eye. It would depend upon whether the vignette is applied or is a factor of actual light fall off. It could also be shopped back in after....

    Re: Red laces

ooh a sticky! WOW! My first! Thanks! <3

Yeah, not the most flattering on the legs (but my legs have looked worse) but I have always wanted to do a shot like this and I could never get it to work.

here is an edit. I am not really sure what PP I used on the first one...I really need to start writing these things down, but I think I am pretty close to it (just a little brighter)

    Re: Red laces

I think you need to put the top back on. Removing the hard shadows bottom left and right works, but the original vignetting/fall off on the top worked. The second image looks squashed, where the first has some sense of depth. It was as if those shoes were going to take us somewhere.

I agree Chris....I thought it looked squashed.

    chuckies take 3 088

So this is just with the shadows cloned out. I can't seem to get the exact look of the first one but I am very close. oye! Gotta get back to preparing for opposition day.

    :-/ :mad2:

(burned edges back in this one)

    Re: Red laces

yep I like that, with the vignette added, It ought to have the impact of the first one. The light fall off ot hecorners really made the red laces jump as the subject.

    Re: Red laces

aaah yes, I didn't burn the edges on the last one. That is why it looks different!

am doing that now while I have a chance and replacing it on flickr so the photo here might change.

Very upbeat, fun and positive. It is a happy picture. Wherever you plant your feet, there you are. (or something like that) All of a sudden I have the R.E.M song "Stand" running through my head. Congrats on your feature!

Thank you all. Sometimes it is those random shots that work. Never would have guessed this was it. Me and Miss D(That is my camera's name) are excited. I feel I need to thank the academy or something ;)
