    fisherman

A man looking for dinner down at the Fort Hamilton Memorial Pier in Brooklyn. I wish I had gotten there 3 minutes earlier because that sun was just an unbelievable hot pink/orange orb floating above the horizon, like I have never seen it before...it was stunning. Needless to say, I wasn't able to catch it in its full grandeur.

cool sky. Slightly tilted. I'd crop or clone out the right-most fishing pole. The horizon goes through the guys shoulders, and his head and neck appear to be merge with the city, which is strange. Hes also very dark.

When trying to get sky and sunset kind of shots, I prefer making the sky take at least 2/3rds the image space..

    Re: fisherman

yeah, I wanted to get the fisherman in there for a stronger subject, but it didnt end up working. Whenever I tried to lighten him up, there was too much noise. For some reason the horizon wouldn't match up with the pier, so I figured I would make the pier straight and hope for the best. I did, however take some sky-only shots, so here is the one that worked the best. My favorite part about this is that I did absolutely NO adjustments to the color on this one...no contrast, brightness, anything....I just straightened the horizon a bit...it was off about 1 degree.

Pretty beautiful basic shot. Composition is not perfect, but it isn't bad.

I think it'd work better as a silhouette.

The sky looks a little over cooked in the first one.
    Beautiful sky in the second.
The horizon in the first one is OK because the railing is fairy straight.
I'd give the silhouette idea a try.
    Look through a glass eye.
    Give it a few tries.

    Re: fisherman

I think the first one would be better if all of the poles had been in the shot and the horizon wasn't so centered and also leveled. on the second one it would have worked better with some separation between the ship and the horizon.
