    Factory Butte

Infrared image of Factory Butte, central Utah, not far from Capitol Reef Nat'l Park. I shot a number of color and IR images on our hike there and back. This one, with the small eroded ravine leading line, plus a tighter horizontal taken just below the butte, are my two favorites.

    This works.

Great sky, foreground interest, good horizon placement and good light on the Butte.

    A keeper.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Wow... Neat shot. This works in many ways, esp the geometry and the way the crack leads you to the butte. The sky is magical. But somehow, it loses its definition/distinction in the middle distance area. I also wish there was more of a perspective effect in the foreground where the cracks in the dried mud were bigger. Try upping the contrast a bit, either entirely or selectively on the middle ground and foreground.

Lovely, and intriguing b&w image. great composition leads us into the scene but I do find the swirling clouds to be too much and fighting me for attention from everything else. I would suggest a crop down from the top to about a 8x10 ratio just to eliminate the swirls. Seems to work well when i try it on the browser.
Really love the scene and the tones.
    Well done

most amazing - can't be real (and i grew up in the West . . . ) - that's what's so great! someone on here looking for ideas for a background for their next sci-fi film? look no further . . . love it - but then i'm just . . . b (not a photographer)
