The concept is nice, I have seen similar images with some variation among them.
In this particular case the composition is not that strong, and that is key to "simple" subjects like this one. I think that the background is playing against the general idea here...IMO it should be simpler.....a solid color backdrop maybe...white or black.
I also think that the subject should have some sort of angle (slight). Right now camera and subject "perpendicular" I would shift the modelīs body slightly so that the legs are facing the camera in some degree.
B&Wīs are tricky now a days....they tend to have a lack of contrast...making the image look flat gray and that takes away the mood IMO.
Also the vignette is kind of harsh...it should slowly fade towards the center of the image...at least for my taste.

I too am not sure about the texture on the wall behind the figure. It also bothers me that the baseboard isn't perfectly horizontal (I know it really doesn't have much to do with the overall image but it caught my eye).
I might like to see a bit more of the face but overall I think it is a fine use of B&W and a nice enigmatic image that the viewer can see into it as much or as little as they care to.
