    Katherine 2331

Katherine is a designer/illustrator (very good one at that) and in return for some work she is doing for me, we had a bit of a portrait shoot.
She wanted quirky and "weird" and so this is one from the session.
    What are your thoughts?
    Thanks

really nice lighting. Did you desaturate it a bit? I love that effect. Nice job.

The smile seems a little bit too strong, still everything else does indeed say, "Quirky and Weird."

    BTW Quality image.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Katherine 2331

Dubbs, thanks. Yes, certainly is some desaturating involved. also tinting and some other stuff. thanks for commenting.

Areshia3. I would take it your thinking of giving the whole image an old, textured look? I was considering it, but did not want to take it too far. i may experiment and send her various versions.

MB1, thanks for the time. I also felt the same about the smile, and this was not one of the first that i worked on. i was actually shying away from it because of the "crazy' look. turns out this was one she selected from the batch of originals and she liked the look. she has a great sense of humor and likes to throw people off sometimes. After editing it, I grew to like the strange exagerated smile and wondered why I didn't go with it from the start. She liked the original but has not seen this edit yet.

mikonyxx, thanks. Yes, the happiness is almost 3D :P
    I appreciate the feedback.

smile? or "get any closer and I bite your head off punk!" (she most know you... )

    weird it is , everything
from the expression, the outfit, the pendant

and the post processing makes it more noticeable

Well Gary...it is not a surprise...as usual you display a very well executed image.

Its funny to read the comments above regarding the smile....for me, along with the eyes both are the key for this pic...the outfit and PP just compliments them....very well BTW.

I would not dare to suggest any changes to it.

I agree Rob, the smile is a billion dollar smile. Yes it may be a bit over the top, but that is the provenance (is that a word?) of the gorgeous. You can get away with a lot if you are beautiful, and this works.

Definitely quirky, not quite weird enough in the clothes, but her expression is priceless!
It's not quite a smile, more a maniacal grin.
Makes me wonder if she's just an Evil Genius (misunderstood).

Lighting is great, as usual, and the desaturation works.

I find the lighter speckles on the wall a little distracting, on the right by the point of the jacket collar, and higher almost in line with her eyes.

    Gary,

As others have said, this is a very well executed shot. She's appears to be a very beautiful woman and I'm sure you could have come up with a very nice, but stereotypical shot. I think it takes a lot more to bring out the subject's personality and you've done that wonderfully here.

Thanks for the time, Armando, Daq, Rob, Marco, Paul, PC.

Yes, she has the billion dollar smile, and good looks to pull it off. True.
Rob, agreed. the smile and expression is really what this portrait is about
Paul, I saw the spots/speckles but now that you bring it up I feel removing them would help. Glad you pointed to it.

Well, she saw, she liked, and even made it her FB profile image. All is well.
She has inspired me and I'm trying to put in motion some new ideas.
    Thanks for the comments.

    Likewise,
I've got a character in mind for another portrait, but the problem is "acquiring" her.
    working on something. . .
    thanks for the encouragement.

This is kind of neat Gary. To me the lighting, outfit and pose all work pretty well. My only desire is if she were in more of an aviation environment, perhaps a museum or even with actual aircraft behind her (military or commercial). Nice work

GB, I agree that a more relative/narrative background could add something more to this.

thanks Snoid, it was fun for sure.
