    town symbol

I've been trying to get some decent shots of this to do some hdr work, but I'm not too sure on how it turned out. I have no problem with my hdr images being obvious, but don't want to grunge them up too much. The first is the original image with fairly little work after photomatix, and the second was obviously converted. C&C please

I like them both. To choose depends on what you are looking for. The color version appears to be over saturated but the sculpture pops out of the image better than the B&W.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Glad to hear they work, I thought to tweak that saturation in most of the first one, and took care of that no swimming sign while I was at it.

Hmmm. This one's difficult to comment on.

I believe they're both good and stand on their own. I think what is a slight bit off is how there's exactly the same negative space above and below the structure (meaning it's vertically centered). I might have left a little more space above it. Strangely, I want to see a person or two in the shot, maybe on the right side and looking at it. It seems like a dinosaur to me!

I like them both. this could be one for color changing the art to fit any project.

i like the "pop" of the structure. love the red and the shadowing. color one is preferred over the b&w. me, i would've done selective color...i know it's not a favorite for some here.

    overall great image.

    Re: town symbol

Hope my comments aid some how to your process....which obviously is a very personal matter...

It is not my type of HDR...looks soft, over saturated and with obvious halos around. The composition is not the strongest...not sure if it is the crop or the lack of a human element.

    Re: town symbol

Thanks for all the feedback so far.
I suppose I can blame the softness on relying on auto-bracketing and a 3 shot burst with a high f-stop. My main goal was just to get some usable images. I agree the composition is kind of boring, but was lucky to not get people in it. With 3 exposures, that'd look odd.

    Re: town symbol

Both are really nice in my opinon. But I am to HDR work as whores are to crack.

Both shots are good. Not overdone. I like the b&w one a lot, But if you want to tone them down, then blend them back in with one of the original shots.
