    Another Northern Flicker

I finally found a cooperative flicker to make a decent composition with at Barr Lake, near Denver, CO. His drilling effort was somewhat lackluster, so wasn't able to come away with an action shot, so I went for the beauty shot instead. Canon 7D, 100-400 @ 365mm, F11, 1/400. C&C welcome.

Hi Ken, Nicely done. A Flicker action shot is on my capture list as well.

    Re: Another Northern Flicker

Thanks Bob. We've got flickers in the woods around our place in MT, but it is rare that I can get very close to them. Except when they are trying to drill a hole in our house! I stopped by Barr Lake tonight on my way out of Denver, but the winds putting a damper on the bird activity.

Beauty shot works for me! The tail feathers look cool here!

Until this capture, I hadn't noticed how they use the tail feathers as a brace when working. Thanks for checking it out.
