I do too and nice focus and composition.
I have to say though that somehow the bg flowers are not complimentary.
Could just be my taste or lack thereof.

Great texture as well as color. I think Frog may be on to something though, try cropping this into a landscape orientation ending just above that last full petal center-right (that almost touches the right of the frame).

As I was scrolling down to see your shot it cut the top off of the picture and it made a much better impression on me. The other flowers are distracting.

That hydrangia was shriveling before my eyes.
Wider F stops softened the edge of the subject. so I had to use this one.
I was thinking when I get my PP chops up, I would mask it a and apply gausian blur with a slight darkening to just that area.
I do like the space at the top. It feels to tight with the closer crop.

Yeah, the space is good and the other flowers could have been great with less dof or color or something. I get the dof problem though. Gotta have that subject flower sharp.

Love the orange petals. I'm also undecided bout the bg flowers. not distracting, but def not adding. i like Jets idea about the horizontal crop totally eliminating the top flowers. Looks great and minimilist when I tried it here
    Good stuff, Snoid.
