I have tried multiple time to obtain good flower photos, without too much excitement from whoever sees it , other than my wife, so ... my comment is that it seems that to obtain a great flower photo it is accepted and I guess expected to have a fuzzy looking image, except for selected areas of the flower.
Me in particular I strive to have sharp photos, which is contrary to what is generally expected of flower photos. I have tried to use a shallow DOF, but somehow I do not have the touch for these type of photos.
Your photo from my point of view is quite good, everything is sharp, the dark blue background is great, I would say the details in the flower are on the dark side and therefore difficult to see.
