    Re: Tahoe City

Don't see such scenery in monotone often and I think you did quite well. Did you convert it or shoot it that way?
Some might say to crop some of the water but I think it is fine as is. Cropping would probably put the horizon or water line in the center which would not be good.
Using the branches gives a lot of depth to the photo. Nice stuff.

    Oh! And welcome to PR!

Thanks guys! I converted it, I turned the saturation down to -83 but boosted the saturation of yellows, blues, and greens. I played with it for about an hour and somehow ended up here. Thanks for the welcome Frog!

I like it, good composition and DOF

there is a large vignette, probably part of your processing that makes the center brighter than the rest of the image and to me it looks odd

I think the TS wanted to add that effect (its in photoshop) to emphasize the center subject. Vignetting is a very common technique in photography especially in portrait/glamour. So I think it was purposely treated on the picture. I use it too in some of my pics.

Not sure about the vignetting but this is a great way to introduce yourself, welcome aboard. Any more from this area ?

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Nice. From a composition standpoint, the foliage really makes the photo -- it gives a frame and sets up a sense of three dimensions. I like the color treatment, too.
