you'll get comments about the whole dog not being in the frame

the cushion is sharp, the dog eyes are not as sharp, perhaps effect of uploading the image to the web

I like it just the way it is. It says something. (yeah, feed me!)

Usually, I would suggest that someone get to eye level on a "portrait." You've done that here, but I actually think it might be more effective to shoot from a little higher up, showing us that the bowl is really empty. Also, I think the fabric and floor pattern take up too much interest. The floor could be cropped out a little.

All in all, it's a good photo, though.

Nice photo but I would follow the advice that has already been shared and crop out the floor a bit.
