    Winter Sun

I've been out a lot this winter and yeah, sometimes it seems the sun is hardly a factor, but it's always so varied. From weak, watery light to full on ultra-spectrum. Anyway...here are a few examples of what's going on around here at the beginning and the end of days.

Dawn @ Adams Point on Great Bay, Durham NH

My 2 photographer buddies and I were watching the rosy colors pass us by as we hiked into this forest pond. Gah! If we'd gotten there 10 minutes earlier, this would have been even better. Oh well, there's always next year.

I'm on the lookout for a more spectacular sunset for this location, but since I was there, I made do.

I got a couple of friends to join me for an impromptu sunset bid at a nearby frozen lake and look at what we got. Haven't had one like this since. This is very nearly SOOC.

    Thanks for checking it out.

That last shot especially looks great, for me I think I'd crop it a bit though...not sure which way. A little off the top gives you a long foreground, which is kind of nice, but cropping the foreground really draws attention to the sunset itself

    Re: Winter Sun

I played with some cropping, but none really works as well as it does full frame. It's one of a series though, so maybe it's not as effective on its own as it is with the rest of the group. I put the snowshoe prints in deliberately for compositional purposes so I think they need to stay. Plus how many times do you see purple snow?? : ) Others I framed for the sky.

    Re: Winter Sun

After I posted about cropping I looked at it a little harder, I do like the snow shoe prints and the color of the snow, full frame looks great, I scrolled my screen as to just cut off a little bit of the sky and for me I think it added some depth to the photo. Great shot though!

Also, on a side note, I'm about 2.5hrs north of you in Littleton, NH. We actually traveled to Londonderry to Sneak Peak ultrasound when my wife was pregnant with our 6mo daughter.

    Re: Winter Sun

Cropping is so subjective, sometimes there isn't just one 'correct' one. and that's a long way to go for ultra sound!
