    Spa Shoot

This was part of a spa advertising shoot... well a bit less than advertising, these are to be used online and in small size in magazines and the brochure... anyway.. here's one promoting couples massage... any thoughts... the client loved the photos... would love your opinion...

    Re: Spa Shoot

I like the concept. I think couples massage is ultimately about the woman and the focus is correctly on her with the man blurred out and in the background. She looks pretty and happy and blissful and the man is sort of looking at her in an "aren't we in love and happy?" sort of way. Technically, the image is well done.

Did you try any different angles? I think you may have found one where the man's head doesn't come together on top of the woman's head so much - maybe a little more space between them. Also, I'm not sure we need the blurred out back of the man in the foreground so much. You get the idea from the mirror image behind her.

In any event, it's a fine photo and it's terrific that your client was so pleased. Please post more.

    Thanks for taking the time.

There were many shots, but in terms of angle we didn't have much to work with. The location was very tight... and we couldn't remove certain distractions from the other angles. As for the crop without the man's back, at first, the back of his head was also in the shot, but then I cropped from the right to what you see, and the final photo was an even tighter crop from the right. almost towards the mirror.

Also, there was some issue with the male model, as he virtually never stopped talking. this one turned out to be the best of the lot...

There is another with the models switching places and the man in focus.

I will post a couple of others soon... would rather have them in separate posts... thanks again for taking the time...

    Re: Spa Shoot

The concept is great along with the composition IMO. The mirror really adds up to the image. The light is is really nice though I must say that at least on my screen here in the office is a whisker overexposed (nit pick really).

Great PP work but personally I find it a bit overdone, the skin job on her forehead and eyebrows...they start to see on the fake side, but I recognize since this is made for advertisement it suits well.

What I´m really unsure is the guys back in first plane...I dont know but it takes to much of my attention...maybe is to bright? dont know....I know you have to leave it there as part of the concept....with out it the face in the mirror will look awkward....I might suggest to play with the saturation or the brightness in the area to see how that works with the whole concept.

That being said... great composition and beautifully executed MK.

The problem with the eyebrows is they were actually painted by make up.. extra black...

As for the skin... part of the concept was this smooth feel to the skin... so here we are!!

The back is a big issue... I tried many versions... i like this way though... will try the brightness and saturation... that i did not try...

    Thanks for taking the time!

    Re: Spa Shoot

Overall a great shot as well as creative. As BR noted, her skin is a bit overdone, but it's appropriate for what you are doing. The guy's back doesn't bother me, but I look forward to see what you do. The one thing that I don't like (which, who cares as long as the paying customer is happy!!), is the fake flower at her nose. A real rose or something "from her man" would have been way better - but the fake one is better than nothing. It's a nice, soft splash of color in what would otherwise be too sterile -- and the pink is complimentary to her makeup and the green casing. Good job!! and you get paid!!!
