    Coach

I was once a frequent contributor here and haven't posted in a long, long time. Here's one for your thoughts, comments, and suggestions. Thanks.

    Re: Coach

    Welcome back Lava!

I think your shot has merit but that more of the ladies should be in focus or view. The one gal in the middle (# 10 I think, is perfect, but the others are starting to fade out or view of them is obscured. It was just about # 10 I think it works then. The image is also slightly dark on my monitor here.

    Hope you're back for awhile.

    Re: Coach

I like the intensity of the faces and eyes looking at coach. I wish there was more at the bottom if not all of them.
    Nice b/w work.

Nice shot. I am drawn to number 10 initially but not to the point where the rest of them do not hold significance or should be taken out.

    Re: Coach

I agree that the intensity of their gaze is what does it. The one girl in the background is in good focus, and that works for me with the rest a bit soft,

Love the intensity of their eyes and the fact that you got at least an eye on all of the girls but one. Good timing.

    Re: Coach

Thanks for the comments so far. I meant to post the tech specs: Nikon D700 and 70-200mm f/2.8 set at ISO 3200, f/2.8 and 1/250 shutter.

#10 in mine, which is why I focused on her. I couldn't get more DOF in the light, but I still thought it works. This was at a volleyball game, and as I recall, they had been undefeated all season and were losing 21 to 18, which might be why they were all paying attention. (Those of you with kids that age know it's not always easy to get their attention.) They went on to win and finish the season undefeated.

What I like about it is the way each of the girls expresses her concentration in a different way.

love the faces but would like to see the girls a little more in focus, especially number 15.

All opinions expressed by this person are purely that, opinions which means she doesn't actually know anything about photography.

    Re: Coach

I've been looking at this for a few days now.
I think it's a great moment, well caught.

All I can spot is the #5 and the girl behind her, they sort of fuse together because their hairlines match exactly. I know their skin tone is different, but that profile face sticking out there is jarring.

Yes. It is one of those that if I moved to the right a few steps, it would have made all the difference. But, maybe I wouldn't have caught some of the looks. Who knows? Thanks for commenting.

I think b and w is the only way to go on this shot. Color would have taken focus away from the intentness of the girls' expressions.
