    Its been a long time

    Hi,

Its been a VERY long time (two years +) since I visited this forum. I had a bit of a hectic time in my life, but I am back behind the shutter. I'll start with some photo's from a recent drive down the Pacific Highway I took...
I couldn't get one of the photos to compress down far enough to post on the forum, so I put it in my online gallery and will post a link to it...

Let me know what you think...

Re: Its been a long time

    Glad to see you back.

Of the two, I prefer the first but that's only my taste talking.
Can almost hear the waves and smell the air and feel the chill.
Is that a log in lower left of #1? Took me a while to figure out what it might be due to the darkness of that area of the photo and the softness. I find it distracting but otherwise nothing to pick at.
    Keep Shooting!

Re: Its been a long time

Good to have you back, Andrew.
I agree with frog in that the 1st photo moves me more.
I think it is the view of the ocean against the shore crashing over the rocks. also the mood with the mist. There is a pleasing openess about it.
I feel that a crop from the bottom just above the tree in the lower right corner making this into a pano type format improves. It also brings us close to the action going on in the shore and brings the horizon down from center.
    Very nice!

Beautiful shots. Was there an ND filter in the mix?

Re: Its been a long time

I didn't use any lens filters on this photo...

When I originally took the photos, I was taking the shots into the sun with mist. The ocean and the sky looked really good, but the color on the mountains looked horrible. I decided that if the color on the mountains looked horrible, why not just get rid of it? So I desaturated the mountains and played a little with the sky and sea in Lightroom.

    Ghaspidy,

I took your suggestion and tried the crop above the tree. I like the results... what do you think?

I don't know what he thinks but I like it better. Got rid of that log on the left too.
