    Re: Weathered Chair

I like the texture all around, specially in the sand. On the other hand the pic leaves me the feeling "I want to see more" Dont know how the surrounding context is but I would like to see a wider shot.

    Re: Weathered Chair

Yes, a little wider but not too much. I'd also wish I could see more texture in chair but good eye and composition with the B/W working well for this shot.

    Re: Weathered Chair

Yeahthat woud have been a good idea to use a wider angle lens. I was limited to what I had on the body that day. Thanks for the input

    Re: Weathered Chair

I agree, a bit wider on top and on the right, to expand the upper right corner area. I also wish the chair were positioned so it is not overlapping the post. That is a nit pik though. the tight crop is the real issue.

    Re: Weathered Chair

This wasnt actually cropped. I just framed it too close, needed to take a step back. I didn't place the chair there either it was there when I was walking around and caught my eye.

    Re: Weathered Chair

Dave - As others have noted, the texture is really nice. Though I think the poles work and the chair could too, I'm not sure about the composition here, as things seem clipped and somewhat unbalanced. It has decent appeal but there were probably better angles to be had. I used to shoot these type shots of sand fences on the east coast (not many of them on the pacific side) and would have to maneuver around trying all sorts of angles etc. I usually was happy with about 2-3 decent shots out of 100.

    Re: Weathered Chair

I dont think a BW is the best here, I would definitely like to see the subtle tones of the sand against the strong browns of the pole. Do you have a color version?

    Re: Weathered Chair

    Dave,

The composition has already been pointed out.

I am wondering if the colour version has more to give than the B&W in this image.
