    Me and My Shadow

This is a redo of an image that I have had in my gallery for the last few days. I took a few suggestions and hope I have created a better overall photograph. I am interested in what you have to say about it.

    Re: Me and My Shadow

This is a really neat image Larry. I love how the horse is almost completely hidden. My only nit-pics are that I I wonder if it would be better if the hooves were hidden as well and maybe clone out the fence post coming out of the shoulder. Again only nit-pics. I love the concept behind the image and the B&W treatment is a nice touch as well.

Makes one look which is what its all about.
I would clone the fence post sticking out of shoulder. Not sure about the hooves.

B/W was the way to go, too!

    Re: Me and My Shadow

Thanks for the ideas gentlemen. I hadn't considered cloning the post because I thought it would look odd since you see so much of it at the bottom below his arm, as for the hoofs I did think about that and decided to give it a go the way it was. May go back now and try both and see how it looks.

I agree with Mikes suggestions but maybe the hoove does not need any fussing with.

I like it just as it is. Love how the cowboy is studying his "swayback" horse and his "skinny" neck.

    Hi Larry,
This is wonderful! I especially like the idea of the hidden horse; very creative.

Lovely and I think mods should be allowed stickies too. Seems a tad unfair.

What I like is the smal bit of hoofs which shows the horse is really there, a nice touch which to me makes the photo.

I'm in the leave it as it is camp. BTW do you know if it is a horse or a mule behind him as the ears seem rather large.

I really like it Larry. I like it because all I can see of the horse is it's shadow. Nice B&W too.

Oh it's a horse alright. Those long shadows do make his ears seem long though. He is a youngster just over two years old that had tough time as a yearling when he contracted the West Nile Virus. Seems to be doing well now though. Here is another pic of my son and this same horse from later in the afternoon as they were coming back from about an hours ride around the ranch.

    Re: Me and My Shadow

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to look at this photo and to comment. It is surprising how a few changes to an image can make a very big difference. In this case a conversion to B&W, a closer crop and a small clone turned it into one I am proud of.

You know, I agree with Roger here in that the small evidence of the horse behind the cowboy, being the hoof should stay. As well, the fence post behind him is fine really.

    Re: Me and My Shadow

    Very interesting composition, like it!
The hoofs look OK IMO, but the post over the shoulder bother me a bit (me being picky).

On the other hand I most say that this shot will look much better in an open ground (without the wire fence) cowboys for me resemble freedom and a this "barrier" constrains that idea, it also stops the visual from going to the horizon.

    Re: Me and My Shadow

Thanks chris and rob for taking the time to look and comment. Rob I agree with the fence issue but it was impossible to move out of the corral and still get the a good shadow image.
