    Waterfall

This is a small creek that only flows when it rains. I did a long exposure to get the soft look I was looking for with the water.I tend to like that look but I know some prefer the natural look. I had some sharpening issues with #2&3. I made the mistake of shooting at lower f-stops than usual, and it shoes. What do think? Any critiques are appreciated.as always.

    Thanks,

    Re: Waterfall

I think they are great CH! The colors are great. I think my favorite is No2 despite the small sharpening issues that you mentioned.
Regarding the water effect is does add character no doubt, you mention some people not liking it, well I`m in between, I like it but a tad less in this case, one of the main reasons I think it should be "turned down" is because the fact that it takes away some of the depth of the water with it, I personally like to see some of the bottom rocks clearly.

The second is my pick of this set, very nice, although it looks a tad over saturated on my screen

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Some great potential in these, but I would have liked to see a wider shot and the saturation looks a bit high IMO

    Re: Waterfall

Thanks for the reply's and comments. I still have many more pictures to go through from this scene. I have some that have a wider view and I'll tone down the saturation a bit.

Blue Rob, I agree with what your saying about seeing the rocks on the bottom. A problem with this water is it was very muddy water. I was able to un-saturate the water to get most of the brown out, but no hope on seeing the rocks below.

I'll post some other shots I took later today. I just printed the contact sheets up and I think I have some that are better than the ones I posted.

Thanks again, Its great to have honest opinions, it really helps.

    Darin,

In my opinion, the color of all the shots are a little to much, and a faster shutter speed would give some seperation between the individual falls. As usual your selection of subject matter is flawless.

    Re: Waterfall

#2 is my favorite. First of all, if it's a waterfall period, I like it. I really like all that you caught going on with the water -- the swirls and different falls and all. The water almost looks like smoke which is cool, I think. I particularly like your composition on #2. I am excited that I can even identify the over-sharpening that was mentioned -- I have to agree that perhaps it is a bit over-done. You have such a great photography playground.

Yes indeed is very hard to get those bottom rocks out....either is the mud, the turbulence or the sun highlights in the way.

    Re: Waterfall

great silking effect created with the slow shutter speed. I like the contrast of the softened/silkened water compared to the harsh rocks.

The moss and such in the 2-4 shot look a little to processed for my taste, since it is a nature screen. But i am sure there are those who would aprreciate the contrast.

BTW I love the silking "effect" I have several pictures like this!

All super shots but I'd have to go with #2 for balance and comp.
