    Homeless

I welcome all C&C on this one
Only PP I did to it was remove color cast, and re-sized it.

    Thanks for looking

    Re: Homeless

Great material, but I think you could have used a more creative angle on it than this, as it's taken from the normal 5'8" high point. This shot shows how it must stink to be homeless .. At least this fellow has transportation though. Seems more organized than most too,

Nice equipment for a homeless person. Never the less I think the angle is ok and the lighting fine. I think it is cropped a little to tight. I would like to see a little more of the surroundings. Maybe it would give it some more mood.

GB1, thank you. if I had a step ladder with me I would of taken it a little higher angle.
    ..
Greg, thank you for insight about being too tightly cropped.

    Re: Homeless

I agree with Greg on the crop. I think the image is pretty compelling, but it seems like daylight, and if shot maybe at dusk would tell a different story all together.

I had to go back and look at the original file, and this was not cropped all.

Wow. If the background wasn't visible, it might pass for a homeless guy on Mars

    Re: Homeless

Nice job on cleaning the file up. That said, if I were not told this person were homeless, I'd just as easily consider it an "urban camping" or "cycle touring" shot. Our homeless here don't have expensive bikes with locks and trailers carrying spare tires; the lucky ones have shopping carts with 4 good wheels and a cardboard box rather than a high end goose down sleeping bag.

    Re: Homeless

Here goes for what it's worth:

1- Color wise, I would keep a little more of the tint... this orange adds to the unease of being homeless.

2- In terms of angle, and what we see in the picture, I agree that we do not get the fact the feeling of homeless... so maybe a lower angle... keeping the person and their belongings to one of the bottom corners, and showing more of the above... the perspective of when you get close to the ground.. or "hit rock bottom"...

3- In addition to the angle, the side from which you could take the photo... kind of trying to go around it....

But that being said, the final image is technically good, in my opinion, just not quite with an edge... or much interest...

    Hope this helps!

    Re: Homeless

Oh... good location for this kind of shot. I know exactly where that is. I think the colorcast is heavy, but a little would add to the depravity of the scene.... I .agree with Jetrim - some of the Portland homeless have way nicer bikes than most commuters do... but then again, this is bike city USA.
