    Fisheye lens for EOS 400D

I have recently started taking photos for a nightclub. I am now looking for a fisheye lens to enhance the pictures. I have a Canon EOS 400D and at the moment I am just using the standard 18-55mm lens. What would be a good fisheye lens to start off with that’s not too expensive?

Maybe you could look around on ebay for an old manual fisheye and get an adapter to fit your camera. You would only have manual focus but it would be cheaper. There is also a way to create the fisheye effect with Photoshop as well. Just stay away from those super cheap screw on type. I am not sure those are very good.

the MC Zenitar 16mm fisheye is a manual focus but nice. I enjoyed it while I had it. However, do realize that if you're shooting someone close enough to fill the frame with a fisheye, they are going to super distorted and not very flattering. So a lot of people may not like the look.

I also have the MC Zenitar 16mm fisheye and I'm very happy with it. I think I paid about $100 for it on ebay several years ago. Keep in mind that on your camera you are going to loose quite a bit of the distortion from this lens because of the crop sensor of your camera. This lens will act more like a 25mm fisheye. You will still get some of the distortion, but not as much as if you used it on a full frame camera. The 16mm Zenitar is only 2mm wider than what you are currently using.

Do a search on the forums for "fisheye" and you will find some other threads about them.

The lenses that Tony mentioned are also very good and would give you a wider field of view than the Zenitar but theyu are not fisheye lenses. You won't get the fisheye distortion like you would with a true fisheye lens.

as I said, I liked it too, it just might not be flattering for close up club photos.
