    Transitions

This is my absolute favorite time of the year for so many things. One obvious reason is that (for those living in the temperate lattitudes) the outdoors becomes the most beautiful.

These from a short walk through a local park with my Canon 5D, 300mm IS lens, and extension tubes. Can't remember which or how many tubes I used on these images. But there is a limit as the image degrades when all three tubes are used at once.

But the 300mm/tubes combination was the right choice as it was extremely windy and I wouldn't have been able to use my macro lens and tripod anyway.

    Thanks for looking.

    Wow!

Wow, Loupey! These are really beautiful. I love the theme and you have suck a good eye for the subtle stuff. I know I would have either missed these details or not shot them nearly as well as you. I like the second and third ones the most as they are almost abstract compositions when you first look at them.

Your title caught my attention too. I posted one of my First Snow shots on Flickr and titled it "Transitions" there

    Re: Transitions

Nice stuff, Loupey. I like the first and second the best for the color.
There's some softness(out of focus) parts in the other two that I wish were sharp throughout but that's just a preference and others will like it.

Those are really cool. I've got to quit concentrating all my time on birds. Evidentally, there are other things of beauty all around us.

After a couple years of shooting primarily birds, I am a little burned out so I had to revert a little

    Re: Transitions

Shot these leaves last week in my front yard after a shower. Nothing brighter than cherry tree leaves in the fall - the 2nd one - don't know what the first leaf is

    Always have nice stuff, Loupey.
The last leaf reminds me of some leaves I've been looking at so you've now inspired me to give it a shot. Yours gave me ideas on composition I hadn't thought of.

Just to be clear, the 3rd set (from the front yard) was with my 180mm macro.

Secondly, I use extension tubes (not teleconverter) a lot and you can read about their use in this thread:

    Extension Tubes - Full Disclosure

I use them on my 300mm and 500mm lenses all the time. One can use them with shorter lenses and zooms but for the best quality images, I would recommend extension tubes with prime lenses not less than 200mm and not with zooms altogether. If you have more questions, please post them in the thread listed above so that all information can be easily found by others.
