My first session with the 135mm f2 DC

Tricky to use if you forget to change the DC ring.

Plus one mistake to show you what can happen if you forget to adjust the ring for the next shot.

    Any constructive criticism is welcome

Re: My first session with the 135mm f2 DC

I hadn't heard of this lens or what it does so googled it up.
I don't know how they do stuff like that but can think of many ways it could be used.
I assume its doing something other than changing the f/stop.

I actually rather like the last one.

I have been having a lot of fun with this lens. Look at the second shot. The textures in the child's clothes are amazing. I have only seen it with this lens( so far).

The shot below is also one I like , I was able to just get the little girl slightly out of focus yet still keep her in.

i can appreciate the lens for the focal length and f stop, but after googling I don't really see what this lens does that you can't easily replicate in photoshop... maybe I'm missing something?

You are probably right but, " if you can do it with glass instead of software do it". For me it's like getting a shot with a long lens vs cropping. I would rather do it with the lens. Only my humble opinion.

ah alright, just a different opinion then. I would prefer to shoot it normally then replicate the effect in photoshop just so I can have different routes to take, editing wise, if that makes sense.

And shooting correctly with a long lens is never something that can be replicated with cropping in photoshop, in my opinion. So I'm right there with you.

Is there retouching on the faces? They look a little different and I can't quite put my finger on it. Great colors/contrast!
This is my Nikon. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My Nikon is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My Nikon, without me, is useless. Without my Nikon, I am useless. I must fire my Nikon true. I must shoot straighter than any enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will....

No retouching at all. To be honest, I don't have the patience to sit for a lot of time and retouch. I messed around with the colors and contrast in the conversion process.
