    pastel modern deco

Trying to develop a body of pieces highlighting holes as architectural elements in S. FL. Wondering what you guys think of this...

trees look brutally oversharpened. I think it's a good idea and I would like to see the original. I think that subtle tone changes would work ok here. (instead of editing to get a lot of contrast)

That's what I was a bit concerned about. I pumped the contrast a bit to intensify the color.
Here's the unedited original, just cropped for print

    Jetrim,

I can certainly see what you were going for here and there's certainly potential. Disregarding the sharpening, I think the top of the building blends into the sky in the first. Maybe try this at a time when the sky is substantially different? Morning? Night? Are there lights on the trees? Might be interesting.

the original looks a lot better than the edit imo. I prefer really subtle changes in tone/color for these shots as I think it starts to distract from the architecture otherwise. perspective looks a bit odd, have you tried working with the free transform tool at all?

btw this is probably my favorite photo i've seen posted in the last few weeks. really nice job.

Nice, if this is local is it possible for you to re shoot when the palms are in a bit better condition as they look just a wee bit scraggy, otherwise cool.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

    Re: pastel modern deco

This is about 3 stories up atop the Kenneth Cole store in Miami Beach, shot from the opposing corner of the intersection, hence the strange angles, and it's not so far out of the way that I couldn't swing by and reshoot. It was shot fairly early in the morning which produced the soft shadows I like, but also toned down the colors substantially, which I'm not crazy about.

    Thanks for the input guys...

I think I like the second one better. It would be better too if the palms were a little more healthy.

I go with the second one myself - the first seems just a little overpoweringly blue to me. Art deco pastels are subtle shades, and the second one nails that I think. The holes are fascinating too.

put me down for the pastel as well.

I think the composition it needs a tad more room on the left to give that tree a bit more breathing space.
