A town near us had a local 'Park on Main Street' kind of car show last evening with about two dozen vintage and hot rods. Here are three from my first attempt at shooting cars. This is a lot harder than it looks. - TF

Sony/Minolta - way more gear than talent.
The first gives a nice perspective of the whole car but in the future i would avoid distracting things in the background such as the lamp post. Perhaps having chosen another angle would have took care of it. Shooting in car shows is tricky since there is little you can do to manipulate the surroundings though.
Second one is interesting although it looks a bit soft.
Last one is quite good too and you did a good work catching the chrome reflections in the housing itself, looks a little understaurated or perhaps a bit blown.
I like the third one the best as a detail shot. The second one could work a lot better if the lamp assembly was less centered and you had a greater Depth of Field.
The first image is a 'great' car to shoot. Lots of elegant lines. I did a full blown layout on a couple cars of that series of RR (and the Bentley cousin) many years ago; plus it is a convertible I just like to look at a lot. This shot is almost too low of an angle. The sweep of the body is slightly lost by not having the top of the hood being more prevalent in the 'whole' car shot.
I thought the lamp post in photo #1 went well with the vintage car. The colors/quality/something looks very off in the photo though although I can't pinpoint it. Perhaps doing some creative editing and making the photo itself look aged would help solve that issue
First one the angle on the car is nice but the street lamp is in the wrong place
The other two are good.
Goodwood Revival this weekend would be a good place to get shots like this, but the cars are too close together in the car park. There will be lots of reflections of other classic cars!
All - Thanks very much for the comments. I had a monopod with me, but am still reluctant to take the tripod out in crowds. The hardest part is the lack of control. People milling around everywhere and the cars are parked where they're parked. I.e. - on the Rolls - it's shot from the low angle because there is a giant green utility box right behind it. You can still see some of it through the vent window.
"Got any more?" drg - why yes, since you were so kind as to ask.

You did a really nice job on the exposure of the Rolls, whites can be very tricky. Love the tailight shot, and the second headlight shot is far superior to the first (even though it's still centered, I think the bumper and Stainless braided go a long way toward helping make the composition work). Fantastic job working the reflections in this one.
I'm most drawn to the top one in the 2nd posting. It's the most creative and has some interesting geometry. Not that there's anything wrong per se with the others, but they're mostly documentary. I think the top one is the funnest.
