    Storm...Coming or going?

This is from the Cottonwood Valley in Vegas where I do most of my mountain biking. Monsoon season of 08.

Love it! Storm light can be really great. You could lose some foreground but I think its fine and should be printed BIG !

Beautiful. Really well done. The rainbow is just an icing on the cake.

Usually shots with this lighting and temperature don't do much for me, but this is excellent, the mood matches desert perfectly and the clouds give this a sense of life and motion. This is just asking to be printed and framed

This is a very nice photograph. The atmosphere provided the bg mountains and sky with a painted look. Your composition having the mountains sloping down into the middle opening that leads our eye out into the distance to meet the rainbow waiting is simple and very effective.
I think you came away with a gem of a shot.
    Great work

I agree with the others. This is an awesome shot. The rainbow is the iceing on the cake. Nice find. You really brought this one home.

I like it! The rainbow is a good subject and the foreground and left side mountains frame the trail and lead the viewer through the photo. Everything looks quite sharp, so good choice of aperture.

To nitpick, I would like it even more if the rainbow was larger, which you can't do much about, and perhaps with a little less sky, which you can crop.

    Yeti,

Sorry I am so late in commenting on this shot. A very well deserved Sticky. Congratulations. This gorgeous, the colors, the contrast of harsh to soft, but the rainbow..., very nicely done.

    Re: Storm...Coming or going?

    Yeti,

I love the composition and the mood of the photo especially capturing that rainbow which makes the photo.

Now for the bits that need addressing for me -

1.at this size there seems to be a line at the base of the clouds leading into the mountains as if an area has been selected but the edge of the selection has not been softened, and then a levels adjustment was made leaving some hard artefacts about two thirds of the way down.

    2. the details in the cloud needs a little recovery on the right of the picture

    3. and finaly you need to go over the picture with the spot healing brush to get rid of some of the spots which are obvious in the top left.

Sorry I'm late on my comments and to be so harsh, but I think they need to be addressed before printing.

Congrats on the sticky - its well deserved and keep them comming.

This is indeed a sweet shot.

Have you thought about bringing up the shadows a bit to create a little more contrast?
