    PowerShot G11 announced

I really like that Canon backed off on the megapixels on this camera! Are companies realizing that photographers are more concerned with image quality than with megapixels? Sounds like it according to this PDN article. I also really like the vari-angle LCD. No HD video which I'm sure will be a bummer to some. On paper it looks like a pretty decent camera. I'm still sticking with my G9 though.

I thought the exact same thing, Mike! I am very curious about the image quality with the new G11. And I'm also wondering if backing off on the resolution means the camera is faster. That should be a benefit of smaller file sizes.

The G9 was enough resolution, but lacking on high ISO capability.
I didn't use it beyond minimum ISO because it was so poor above 400.
Now I don't use it at all because it filled up with dust.
Canon have to improve the sealing on those extending lenses.
That frustration is what drove me to the E-P1 and its sensor cleaning.
