I am very new to photography, have a Canon 450D and have been on the look out for a decent tripod. I was passing a junk shop today and bought 2 tripods for £10. Both were very dirty. 1 is a Vivanco, it seems a bit light but will do a job. The other is a Sachtler-Muchen Video 10 and seems very, very robust with a really great swivel movement. This one doesn't have a 'quick release' clip thingy at the top.
I've been on a few websites and some refer to Video 18, 20, 25s but cant see much on the video 10.
Does anyone know if I can use this for digital photography with my Canon and if so where I can get the clip? If I do use it, how can I get use it for Portrait shots?
Or should I pass it on to the next beginner who doesn't know what he's / she's buying.

Although in overall great nick, the Sachtler's feet look like they have lost their indoor protectors, the ends look ideal for outdoors but I've just scatched the finish on our wooden floor (wifey doesn't know yet).
