    Which crop ?

Bars in the window caused horrible blurs in the flash, that was necessary to reveal the cobweb in the window of the abandoned steel works.

    Re: Which crop ?

I prefer the second crop. I am more drawn into the second one; my eye just wanders around the web in #1. I also like seeing the whole skylight and the second web in #2.

I agree, the panoramic format works really well here.

    Re: Which crop ?

I like the first crop just fine. i love the colour contrasts u got here with the beige and light blue. the thing that bothers me a bit is the three spots in the middle, the other colour areas work well. but those three in the middle, i find a bit distracting. i like the capture over all though. lovely colours and execution.

    Re: Which crop ?

First one by a landslide. To begin with, I don't like abnormal aspect ratios. That said, the cropping of the second version completely throws off the balance of the image. The center of the web is lost on the left side, and the second web on the right only confuses things more.

The first one is actually a terrific composition, with the lines of the web bringing us to web's center almost like a spiral.

    Re: Which crop ?

    Paul,

I will opt for the first purely because of the lines on the web bringing in all aspects of the rest of the composition, the broken window pointing to the centre, the corner of the photo leading to the centre of the web and the web leading to the skylight.

I must say I like the play between the two webs, and the sky light and the unusual aspect ration of the panaroma in a scene like this in the second but prefer the first.

    Re: Which crop ?

I agree with Leels on the colors and the spots of light in the middle and also feel the first crop is best.
The panorama crop seems to be balanced fine and could work, but I look at it and ask what is the point of this extreme crop for this subject. It seems there is no real need for it and does not do anything good for the subjects and scene, other that the inclusion of the second web which is really not enough to get me to go with it.
The first crop is working real well and as Leels pointed out the colors are very pleasing

If anyone wants to try a crop, or a merge of the flash/noflash images, feel free.
