    What am I?

Any guesses? I'm heading back to try and get some better shots. It's tough just finding them in this tree, let alone getting a clear shot. Oh well, I love a challenge. The conditions were pretty dim, so I shot this at 1/100 sec. - f5.6 and ISO 1000. Also, the photo does not need rotating.

It's got the eye position of a bittern, but what would one of them be doing up a tree ?
Never looked at a heron from this angle, could well be one as they nest in trees and this looks like a young bird by the fluffy feathers.

PAul, you really are a smart wombat. This is a green heron chick. I was alerted to the nest a couple days ago, and what a challenge to get a shot of more of the bird. This tree is really thick with foliage. Here are a few more I ended up with after 3 more trips over there.

Yes, those are certainly Green Heron chicks. Herons / Egrets have such cool eye-placement, don't they?

We used to have a cattle egret which liked to roost in a tree... right amongst the chickens.
