    Portraits from Egypt

    Hi all

I returned last night from a trip to Egypt. It's my favourite place and this was my third trip. Here are three portraits.

The first was taken at a market used by the Egyptians themselves - they don't see many tourists in that area.

The second was a candid in the same area.

The third was taken inside a bakery which I managed to talk my way into!

As always, any comments are much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Mike

After I open your shots, I always have to scroll up to see if they are in critique or viewfinder as I get to them from "new" posts.
The first one is ok but I wish there were a little more space around the subject..
I really like the second one. People in natural situations doing what they do always attract me and I really like everything about this shot and even that he's a bit cut off on the right works for this photo.
The third is ok too but not as striking as the second

I love Egypt i went a couple of years ago befor i was into photography, i have to go back and get more shots, i love the people there, i still keep in touch with some of the people i met there. I think your second shot works best as he is not posing for the shot, great colours in the first the background contrasts nicely with the green foreground. good work!

These are all quite good, but I agree with the others that the second shot really stands out.

I love this kind of picture. Maybe a little too static for my taste.

    Re: Portraits from Egypt

Mike - Nice shots. I am drawn to the top one myself, prob due to the color. I know it is tricky going to another country where the customs are quite different and taking photos. (At least you aren't American and watch people's face frown up when they learn that .) I like the bottom one also but think the lighting could be played with in PP, perhaps vignetting the sides so that the viewer's attention is drawn to the fellow and his oven.
