I like 3 & 4. Did you crop them at all? I think they would have been perfect if the entire flower was in the frame (no chopped off petals). If you are able to do any photoshop work, cloning out the flower coming into view at the top left of #4 would also be nice.

    Re: 1st try at Macro

    nice first try..
1.) best framing here. Focus is off center.
2.) The bit in the lower left center (out of focus) is a bother.
If you can do so, remove the stick. Visable on the left.
3.) and 4.) I agree on the cut off petals.
When taking a shot this static get them all in or accept a bit of the flower next to it
and try to work it into the shot.
PS. Do use a tripod. Macro has it's costs and that's shutter speed.
    Look through a glass eye.
    Give it a few tries.
Nothing goes right in its time.

I think these are good. The first one has a very interesting perspective, an eye-puzzler. I like the detail in #3, showingr the pollin on the petals. Good work.

    Re: 1st try at Macro

I like the first one, it's a good close up, well framed, and I can feel it really. I could do with out the bottom part of it.

I think composition-wise, they're all right. I would though suggest you to do some post-processing, if you have not already had. It could help with the final results.

I think you are off to a great start here! Macro photography takes a lot of practice to get right. (myself....i take horrible macros!)

I love the colors in these photographs....but, agree, the framing could be a little better. The 3rd is my favorite! The detail and beauty of this flower...loves it!
