    A different look

    A different look-morning-sparrow.jpg

Shot with 70-300 VR @ 300 f8. Moose Petterson describes this lens as the best kept secret of Nikon. Scott Kelby also praised this lens lately on his site. I wonder if Nikon paid them.

If the photos look like that, the lens will pay for itself!

Really fantastic tones, nice shot all around.

Very nice! I really like the soft green color. Is it desaturated? - TF

I was playing around with the filters from Nik's Color Efex. Yes, the desatuaration and the grains come with the filter, and the effect can be adjusted to taste. I've cloned out some bright spots, too.

Thanks for the nice comments, folks !

The desaturation works really well, gives it a misty sort of look. What kind of bird is that?

That's a beautiful photo. Whatever the effect you applied, I agree with the others---very nice. DOF, exposure is great... as well as the birds pose.

    Very good work!!!
