    Editing welcome

    Hi all,

I am brand new to the forum and just starting to get serious. Currently enrolled in a college photography course and took this photo for the class (to show motion). This photo is unedited but I would like to see some edits of this photo..I need to learn! Thanks Michele

    Re: Editing welcome

This version is very compressed and the resolution is very small, if you could provide us with a full res we can do more. No less, heres my stab at it.

    Anywho

Levels adjusted all RGB channel together, high tones I brought down to 198, midtones to 1.1, low tones stayed.

The negative space was feeling a bit redundant to me in this one, so I jazzed up the lake with a new layer of gradient effects. I applied 4 round and one linear gradients using the gradient tool, set to black, then applied the layer type to 'overlay'.

I adjusted levels a second time for white balance, raised reds low tones +20, green's +10, and lowered blues high tones -15.

Its a pretty cursory adjustment but not much else with the res and compression can be done to it, the coarse tonal graduations in the water are pretty obvious here.

I like Anbesol's edit. I don't see a major reason to crop, but I might take a little off the bottom.

    Re: Editing welcome

I used Capture NX to edit this, my edits were far less complex than the previous version.I'm not a pro, here is my idea.
I cropped a tad off the top,I liked the light play on the lower portion of this shot.
