    Parrot portrait.......

    Just bought a cheap lens, Nikkor 50mm F1.8 and photographed my Corella.

    Cheap lens or not, many people like it. I don't have one though

    I think this photo looks a bit under-exposed. Good that it's your bird and hopefully you can share more of its photos with us.

    I have the same lens. It has a limited range of use, but its good at what it does!

    When looking at a photo, we usually tend to see the lightest areas first. That said, even though the subject is the parrot, my focus doesn't stay there. I would try to light the subject across the face (not harshly, but enough to get a light in the eye and separate the feathers by creating shadows.

    With the reddish/orange, I think the bird would look brilliant against a colored background, such as a vivid green from a large tree.
