    Mallard and Redwing

Not a great angle for a mallard. I was up on a bridge shooting down at him.

The RWBB were taunting me. They'd be posing on a tree and I'd just get them in focus and then they'd be gone before I could hit the shutter. This guy I got from a distance.

Next time, try getting down to the mallard's eye level.

Red-Wing probably looks best on natural perch and background. If you can't get a close-up shot, aim for environmental.

    Re: Mallard and Redwing

    Thanks for the reply, Alex!

I was up on a bridge for the mallard, so I was stuck with the angle. The lighting was really harsh as well. Still not sure what else I could have done from where I was stuck shooting from.

Yeah, I'd have preferred not to have had him perched on the sign. I think there were two males in the area because as soon as I'd get one in focus he'd take off chasing another bird

Agree with Alex, but I love how you got the duck "laughing".
Walk softly and carry a big lens.
