I tried to do some motion photos today. Of these (if any) can you tell me which in your opinion best depicts motion? If you have suggestions of getting more motion out of a shot like this I welcome your advice.
Thanks S.

do you want the broom in motion, or the background in motion? I can't help but think that the broom is standing still on a rapidly spinning world. Of those, I like the first one best.
If you wanted the broom in motion, then the world would need to be still and the broom moving. Maybe then you could use slow sync flash (although lighting would need to cooperate).
Drink Coffee. Do stupid things faster with more energy.

Thanks Opus for the quick feedback, yep I was looking at having the broom frozen and everything around it in motion. I'm using a 10.5 fisheye, maybe I shouldn't? I'm just learning about flash sync, thanks for the suggestion. I tried rear sync on aperture priority but wasn't happy with the results should it be dusk or dark when I use a flash for rear sync? Thanks again. S

I agree with Paul. 2 (&3) are the best of the bunch for what you're trying to depict.
The rear curtain sync is a little funky as it allows you to "drag" the shutter
IE the broom comes out blurry at first with a crisp punch of focus at the end of the frame. This is often used to depict exciting action at nightclubs, and Asylum Steve has written about it's proper use somewhere here on PR. In this case you'd leave the world still and show the broom moving (in low light) for best results.
It just goes to show that there is ALWAYS a picture to be taken. You don't have to be in an exotic location - a little imagination and an image is there for the grabbing.
Thanks everyone for the input. I will try a few more and when I think I've nailed it I'll post a final version. Mike you are right, I didn't want to go out but I wanted to take some photos so I came up with this, I'd just finished mowing the lawn so was gardening a bit anyway. I'll try some new angles, make sure I get the feet in or at least have an interesting composition, which is why I should probably put something on the ground to actually sweep. Cheers, S

Very, very, very good. A good example of panning.
